18日、ロッシー（3歳9カ月）の待つリンク日本平動物園に
タイ・バンコクの動物園リンクサファリワールドからヴァニアちゃん（2歳6カ月）が到着しました！
ヴァニアちゃんは2009年2月生まれの2歳6カ月。
体長150センチ、体高95センチ、体重175キロで、ロッシーの半分くらいだそう。

記事についてのコメントしばらくは静かな環境で過ごし、一般公開は10月初旬頃になる見通し。
旅行時間は約15時間。
体重は約100キロと伝えられていたのに、測ってみたら175キロ！
女の子だからサバ読んじゃったかな…
初対面は2〜3週間後の予定。

記事についてのコメントヴァニアちゃんを乗せた飛行機は17日夜にバンコクを飛び立ち、18日午前8時頃成田に到着。内部を20度に保った保冷車で18日午後3時過ぎに日本平動物園に到着。
到着直後はうなったり興奮していたヴァニアちゃんも、獣舎に入ってからは落ち着いた様子で水を飲み干したり歩き回ったり。
慣れるまではロッシーとは別居。2週間ほどで檻越しに対面。
愛称も公募されます。
2世誕生は2013年冬ごろを目標。

記事についてのコメント最近のヴァニアちゃん。体調に問題はなく、リンゴや鳥肉などを食べているらしい。
到着したのは18日午後4時半過ぎと書いてあるけど、檻に入った時間のことかな。
ロッシーもヴァニアちゃんも、繁殖できる年齢になるまでまだ2年ほどあるので、子グマ誕生は早くても2,3年後。
園長始め、職員の皆さん気合いが入っています！
