上野動物園　ホッキョクグマ舎の改修

リンク2011年春、ホッキョクグマとアシカ・アザラシの新施設オープンという記事が
上野動物園公式サイトに載っています。（09/18のものなので古いですが…）
夏の氷のプレゼントの時に園長先生が語ってらした改修についての詳細ですね。
2009年度、2010年度と場所を少し変えて段階的に改修をし、
新施設は、2011年春にオープンするとのこと。
とくに注意書きがないってことは改修中も動物たちは変わらず見ることができるのかな。
以下引用です。

　絶滅危惧種であるホッキョクグマの飼育舎は、国際的な基準にもとづいて整備します。子育てのための空間を確保したり、土の放飼場を用意したり、ホッキョクグマが生き生きとくらせる施設です。
　また、プールを含む放飼場の面積を約３倍に拡張。ホッキョクグマがゆったりとくらすようすを、２階の観覧スペースからご覧になれます。
　北極海の環境を再現した１階部分では、ホッキョクグマが水中で見せるダイナミックな行動を間近に観察することができます。

完成予想図を見ると、プール部分は既存のものそのままの様にも見えるのですが
1階から新たに間近に観察できるとか！
「北極海の環境を再現した」っていうのはどんな感じだろう。
上野のホッキョクグマ舎は、個人的にはあんまり好きじゃないので
しろくまにとっても暮らしやすく、見る側にとっても魅力的に生まれ変わることを期待します :!:
